3

You're three today! Your favorite color is red and your favorite foods are Dolma, Cheeseboard pizza and Amanda's Hamburgers. Your shoe size: 12. Your favorite movies: "Madagascar" and "Up". You tell us you love us all day long and you love your friends and family. Actually, you love a good party! You're not enjoying being the center of attention with your birthday, but loving all the cake. You love chocolate. And you love waffles in the morning. These are the things you love.
People describe you as a happy boy. As your mom, I would throw in "and has strong opinions about things." But this is what I love about you...when you are excited about something, everyone knows it. (Conversely, if you are upset, we all know it!)
You just asked me why lions have tails...you're asking a lot of questions right now trying to figure out the world around you. "Why do I have to get dressed?" "Why do I have to wear underwear?" And you're playing lots of pretend because you "love characters". You love the commentary DVD of Toy Story and Nemo. (We're pretty sure you want a career at Pixar.) You constantly amaze me, Ian. Recently, you got tired of waiting for us to potty train you at night, so you hid your diaper under a blanket after bedtime. That's taking initiative!
You're counting almost up to 20 and can read "I am Sam, Sam I am", mostly thanks to Dad, who reads to you every night. You've recently wanted me to stop singing to you (hint?), so we cuddle until you fall asleep...which we both really like. You get the sweetest little smile in your sleep...
So proud to be your "Mama", sweetie pie. Wishing you lots of Happy, Happy Birthdays.

All my love,
Mom
